So bright the light,
the seaside glows;
through dunes in white
a shadow flows,
another one
and then some more,
I watch their flight
along the shore,
with backs like bows
they romp and roar.
Play with delight
my hounds galore.
For hours now
I've watched them play,
a game of chase
and stag at bay.
Through waves they plough,
an endless race
up through the dunes
and back to base.
With lolling tongues
and eyes so bright,
now side by side
we await the night
